Learning outcomes
Subject annotation: The optional subject, Religionistic in helping professions, deals with religious dimension of human and religious aspects of work in health care and social disciplines. It deals with philosophy, psychology and sociology of religion in general outlines. It deals particularly with characterization of main religious directions, focusing on practical impacts of specific religious beliefs and traditions on life of individual and society and on health and social care (specific approaches with regard to religious belief, pastoration and spiritual accompaniment, refusal of health care for religious reasons etc.).
The student should be able to perceive specific needs of patients/clients arising from their spiritual and religious nature with understanding and tolerance and they should be able to meet them. They should be able to recognize indications of spirituality in its various forms; they know that spirituality cannot be reduced to a mere religious belief. They are able to characterize the most important religious systems of the present time; they know fundamentals of their doctrines and the basic historical relations of their origin and development. The student is aware of identical features as well as differences between the individual religious traditions and they are able to differentiate even within such systems (e.g. differences between the individual Christian churches).
