Lectures: 1. Introduction to public health (definition, basic characteristics of the field, and its brief history) 2. Definition of health, definition of public health, Act No. 258/2000 Coll. On the protection of public health as amended by applicable law 3. Health and its determinants, living conditions and health 4. Health support, health education 5. Health of the population of the Czech Republic and its expected trends 6. Demographic development and its expected impacts on health and social care 7. Basic principles of organization of health care provision in the world, principles of functioning of foreign health systems 8. Drug policy of the Czech Republic, drug information system 9. Financing of health care in the Czech Republic, the system of general health insurance in the Czech Republic 10. Health 2020European Regional Programme Seminars: 1 - 2. Learning outcomes
The course is a part of a set of subjects that enables graduates to work in all spheres of health care. The course introduces the complex issues of strategy and public health care policy - and pays special attention to urgent care. It allows students to understand the issues of strengthening health and prevention of diseases through organized efforts of society. The course also allows students to understand the new concept of primary (basic) healthcare according to the WHO. The course focuses on the health of the population in the Czech Republic, and the impact of lifestyle on the health of various groups. It also deals with the current state of the environment in the Czech Republic and provides insights into global, national and regional healthcare strategies.
The student: - is able to explain the following basic concepts - health, public health, determinants of health, health education - is familiar with demographic development and its expected impacts on health and social care - defines the principles of organization of care in the global perspective and the principles of foreign healthcare systems - describes the drug information system and drug policy of the Czech Republic - is familiar with the financing of healthcare in the Czech Republic - explains the system of general health insurance in the Czech Republic - describes the Health 2020 European Regional Programme
