Course content
Seminar: 1.-4. Care unit. room equipment, bed, signaling, medical documentation, patient admission, patient transfer, patient discharge. 5.- 8. Infection prevention. Washing hands, using of disposable gloves, isolation of sick patients, special precautions. Looking after tools, desinfection, sterilisation. Bandaging technique. 9. -12. Hygienic care - bathing of patients, the care of oral cavity, hair, feet, nails. Basal stimulation concept. 13.-16. Manipulation of patients, immobilization syndrome, pressure ulcers, curativ positions and examination positions, care for dead body. 17.-20- Eating, visit 21.-24. Vital funktion 25.-28. Faecal excretion, enema, stoma care. Incontinence aids. 29.-32. Evacuation urine, catheterization. Incontinence aids. 33.-36. Administration of drugs 37.-40. Administration of injections

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as theoretical-practical and it is an essential subject for a midwife. The content of the subject forms the basic professional skills of midwifes. The lessons are practical and they enable the students to gain basic manual dexterity and certitude of safe and quality performing of professional activiities and procedures with clients. The student respect the patients´ needs, especially their need for comfort, respect, certitude and safety. Part of the practical part of the subject is the training of psychomotor and communication skills in nursing care in simulation laboratories. Emphasis is placed on managing a complex situation, including compliance with hygienic and epidemiological principles, risk prevention, teamwork and managing crisis situations. The learning process is supported by subsequent debriefing, which is a necessary element of simulation teaching.
The student: - performs nursing services according to the principles of nursing barrier care. - uses an ethical approach in the implementation of practical nursing services. - proceeds in the provision of nursing care by the method of the nursing process. - demonstrates manual dexterity to perform individual nursing procedures. - is able to communicate empathetically and effectively educate the client / patient and his family. - characterizes professional performances and practically applies them in the provision of care for clients / patients - is able to perform nursing services in the field of dependent activities of the nurse, ie diagnostic and therapeutic services.
