Course content
Lectures: 1. Definition of acute conditions in midwifery and their distribution 2. Acute conditions in gynecology 3. Acute conditions in pregnancy (non-obstetric) 4. -5. Acute conditions in pregnancy (obstetric) 6. -7. Peripartum bleeding and BPH 8. Basic therapeutic procedures in dealing with acute conditions 9. Acute conditions superimposed on other illnesses of the mother 10. Significance of fetal pathological conditions 11. Indications, strategies and risks of the application of blood derivatives 12. Trauma during pregnancy 13. Resuscitation in general and with an emphasis on pregnancy 14. Resuscitation of a newborn. Seminars: 1. - 2. Introduction to the issue of acute and critical conditions. Concept of anesthesiology and resuscitation. Income sick on ARO and ICU - securing the client/patient; instrumentation 3. - 4. Midwife's care of a pregnant woman in an acute condition 5. - 6. Care of a midwife in a woman with GI 7. - 8. Trauma in pregnancy - care of the midwife for the client/patient 9. - 10. Monitoring of vital functions in a client/patient in an acute condition in the field of gynecology, obstetrics - role midwives 11. - 12. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in hospital care - organization, role of the midwife 13. - 14. The role of the midwife in preparing the client/patient for emergency surgery; general and local anesthesia

Learning outcomes
The course is designed as a theoretical-practical unit for midwives. It is part of a complex of subjects with clinical issues in midwifery. Get acquainted with the conditions that immediately threaten the life of a woman (fetus) in connection with pregnancy and childbirth. It prepares students for active participation in the provision of emergency care. It is the basis for the practical treatment of clients/patients in urgent care and for the acquisition of professional techniques and procedures in midwifery. Part of the practical part of the subject is the training of psychomotor and communication skills in nursing care in simulation laboratories. Emphasis is placed on managing a complex situation, including compliance with hygienic and epidemiological principles, risk prevention, teamwork and managing crisis situations. The learning process is supported by subsequent debriefing, which is a necessary element of simulation teaching.
Student: - explain the importance of urgent care - defines the treatment and nursing plan of activities, performances and techniques from immediate and urgent care - describes the principles and procedures of treating clients/patients in acute medicine - defines the peculiarities of intensive care in gynecology and obstetrics - defines trauma during pregnancy, acute conditions during pregnancy and life-threatening conditions during childbirth - will describe the resuscitation of pregnant women
