Course content
Lectures: 1. Community care - history of community care in the Czech Republic, definition, goals, position within public health care, and related terminology. 2. Healthy community - factors influencing the health of the community, research in community care, WHO recommendations. 3. Characteristics of complex home care and its basic principles. Anamnestic and diagnostics in home care. 4. - 5. Selected models of health support and disease prevention (Noly Pender model, Betty Neuman model) Seminars: 1. - 2. Community as a client of the midwife 3. - 4. The importance of midwives in health prevention and educational activities 5. - 6. Nursing process in community care, participation of individuals and families in health care 7. - 9. Pregnant woman in community care and her family, prenatal preparation in the work of a midwife 10. - 12. Women in the postnatal period in community care 13. - 15. Care for newborns in the home environment, lactation counselling 16. - 18. Care for gynecologically ill in the household, methodology of prevention using breast self-examination 19. - 20. Care for the elderly and chronically ill in the household, care for the dying in the household, palliative care - hospice, peculiarities of nursing care for the deceased and bereaved persons.

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on the basic concepts and activities of community and home care. It emphasizes the role of midwives (bachelors) in community and home care and provides the necessary information for this occupation. Part of the practical part of the subject is the training of psychomotor and communication skills in nursing care in simulation laboratories. Emphasis is placed on managing a complex situation, including compliance with hygienic and epidemiological principles, risk prevention, teamwork and managing crisis situations. The learning process is supported by subsequent debriefing, which is a necessary element of simulation teaching.
The student: - describes the basic concepts and is familiar with the meaning and system of community care - describes a multidisciplinary team and the nursing process in community care - applies the nursing process in primary care - identifies opportunities for cooperation in community care - assesses the health of pregnant women, women in puerperium, and newborns in the community - identifies risk factors affecting women's health in the community - applies the nursing process in the elderly, the chronically ill, and dying patients (hospice)

Student performance assessment, Colloquium, Seminar work

90% attendance of classes, active involvement, individual preparation for seminars, participations in simulation teaching, elaboration of a task, colloquium - oral discussion on an assigned topic
