Course content
Lectures: 1. Categories and classification of human needs 2. Basic physiological functions - respiration, body temperature 3. Nutrition and hydration 4. Excretion 5. Physical mobility 6. Pain 7. Physical well-being, sleep, rest 8. Basic psychosocial needs, security and safety 9. Needs of self-esteem and self-actualization 10. Spirituality and religiosity Seminars: 1. Evaluation of the current state of the satisfaction of human needs - analysis of short case reports 2. Implementation of planned care, including specific nursing interventions related to the need for breathing and maintaining a constant body temperature 3. Implementation of care according to the plan, including specific nursing interventions related to the need for nutrition and hydration 4. Implementation of planned care, including specific nursing interventions related to the need for urinary and faecal excretion 5. Implementation of care according to the plan, including specific nursing interventions related to the need for physical mobility 6. Implementation of planned care, including specific nursing interventions related to the need to be pain free 7. Implementation of planned care, including specific nursing interventions related to the need for sleep, rest, and physical well-being 8. Implementation of care according to plan, including specific nursing interventions related to the need for security and safety 9. Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as theoretical and practical. It focuses on the needs of man, family and community, their division and classification according to different authors. It defines the hierarchy of human needs in the area of population health care. Get to know basic feelings and manifestations of unsatisfied human needs, which form the basis of nursing diagnostics. Part of the practical part of the subject is the training of psychomotor and communication skills in midwifery in simulation laboratories. Emphasis is placed on managing a complex situation, including compliance with hygienic and epidemiological principles, risk prevention, teamwork and managing crisis situations. The learning process is supported by subsequent debriefing, which is a necessary element of simulation teaching.
The student: - defines the historical development of midwifery and obstetrics - has knowledge of the basics of modern scientific midwifery - is aware of legislative norms in midwifery - lists professional organizations in midwifery in the Czech Republic and throughout the world - knows the benefits and the effect of the work of a midwife on women/clients - defines the nursing process and its phases - defines the benefits of the nursing process for the midwife and the client - identifies the unsatisfied needs of clients - determines nursing diagnoses according to NANDA taxonomy - uses objectified measuring scales and methods - creates an individualized care plan for clients - describes the most important nursing models - analyses the goals of individual nursing models - describes the results of nursing activities achieved in the nursing process - explains the role of a midwife in individual conceptual models in the nursing process

Student performance assessment, Combined exam, Seminar work

90% attendance at seminars, active involvement of the student in teaching, self-study and home preparation for predetermined topics, preparation of a seminar paper, active participation in simulation teaching, combined exam - test and oral exam
