Course content
Lectures: 1. - 2. Communication as a nursing skill (procedure, technique) structure, types of communication (transactional analysis), verbal communication, nonverbal communication, paralinguistics, communication process 3. - 4. Communication in individual phases of the nursing process (interview), communication skills of therapeutic communication, (counselling, work with a group) dignity, identity, respect, tolerance in communication, compassion, empathy 5. - 6. Self-awareness - emotions and communication, aggressive communication, (documentation, teaching, management, electronic communication, presentation), communication patterns, difficult communication styles 7. - 8. Nursing communication with clients in crisis situations, dying clients and their loved ones 9. - 10. Alternative care concepts and models related to nursing communication skills and saturation of the need for security and safety: Basal stimulation, Snoozeling Seminars: 1. Introduction to the group, eye, haptic contact, first impressions, awareness of elements of social communication, oral Performance and training of self-reflexion. 2. Difference in perception of verbal and nonverbal impression, labelling theory 3. Training of nonverbal techniques / proxemics, facial expressions, eye contact, position, gestures, posturology, kinetics, haptics, basic elements of basal stimulation 4. Training of verbal techniques / speech, paralinguistics 5. - 6. Motivation for communication, active and passive listening 7. Assertive communication 8. Aggression in nursing, communication with aggressive patients 9. - 10. Empathy, therapeutic interview

Learning outcomes
To teach students the principles and skills of adequate communication, not only with children and their parents but also with colleagues.

" The student demonstrates non-verbal skills. " The student demonstrates assertive behaviour. " The student applies non-directive conversation skills. " The student analyses verbal and nonverbal manifestations of clients. " The student distinguishes the specifics of communication with children and adolescents. " The student distinguishes the specifics of communication with the handicapped, mentally handicapped, dying patients, and the bereaved.

Moodle knowledge test, individual interview, demonstration of model situations with self-reflection, analysis of a communication situation from the study literature (of the student´s choice)
