The course is an essential part of nursing theory. It enables students to understand the main task of professional nursing practice, which is to ensure and satisfy the immediate needs of the client/patient, family and community. It introduces classifications of human needs and focuses on reactions and manifestations of unmet needs in healthy, sick, disadvantaged and dying people. It also focuses on practicing individual phases of the nursing process - methodology of nursing practice.

" The student knows the problems of human needs and is able to classify the basic needs of children. " The student knows Maslow's hierarchy of needs and its use in assessing needs. " The student can practically use the method of nursing process according to the current state of child patients. " The student is able to obtain basic information about the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual needs of the child and its reactions to the dissatisfaction of some of the needs. " The student is able to make nursing diagnoses in connection with the unsatisfied need for the disease. " The student can satisfy the needs of children according to their timeliness. " The student can take care of the physiological needs of children - the need for nutrition, hydration, excretion, mobility, sleep, rest, well-being, hygiene and sexuality. " The student can care for children with pain. " The student can take care of basic psychosocial needs of children. " The student can ensure the satisfaction of the need for security and safety. " The student can ensure satisfaction of the needs of self-esteem and self-realization. " The student can satisfy children's spiritual needs. " The student can plan nursing care for a child according to its individual needs. " The student can completely evaluate the nursing process according to the current or potential nursing diagnosis. " The student has the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the child's individual needs. " The student can use specific measuring tools in nursing.
