Course content
Lectures: 1. Pedagogy as a science - definition of the term, relation of pedagogy to other sciences, structure of the field. 2. Medical pedagogy in history and the present day. 3. Educational reality - basic concepts and relationships. 4. Educational process and determinants of education. 5. Definition and formulation of educational goals and application to the work of a nurse. Patterns and types of learning, learning styles. 6. Subject and object of education. Personality of the nurse as an educator. 7. Special approaches in education of children with physical and sensory disabilities. 8. Problems of children with special educational needs. 9. Principles of educational work with children. 10. Definition and formulation of educational goals and application to the work of nurses. Organizational forms of education. 11. Didactic principles in the work of a nurse. 12. Design and evaluation of the educational process of paediatric nurses. 13. Pedagogical and psychological diagnostics. 14. Intercultural education. 15. - 16. Problems of socialization in the educational process. 17. - 18. Authority in terms of ontogenetic development. 19. Authority in terms of educational requirements of paediatric patients and their family members. 20. Methods used in educational research. Seminars: 1. - 2. Educational processes in health care, didactic means, educational environment. 3. - 4. Creation of educational plans. 5. - 6. Methods of education of a child patient, educational plan. 7. - 8. Evaluation of education effectiveness. 9. - 10. Personality of a nurse as an educator. Personality of a child as an object of education. 11. - 12. Areas of health prevention (primary, secondary, tertiary prevention, health determinants), methods of health education and their use. 13. - 14. The role of a nurse in health education and prevention. 15. - 16. Health and health problems, environment, lifestyle, health indicators, major health problems, health support, support of stress adaptation mechanisms. 17 - 18. Training of basic methods in the individual and mass work of a nurse in preventive and educational care. 19. Training of models of educational preventive care for paediatric nurses. 20. School facilities within health care.

Learning outcomes
" Students will learn the basics of didactics and its use in the educational impact of a nurse on children of all ages, their families and communities, as well as participants in qualification and lifelong learning " Students will acquire knowledge of the conditions, processes, forms and methods of education as the basic steps of the educational process and its practical application (not only to children but also to their family members and the medical team).
" The student defines the basic concepts and relationships in pedagogy and the factors of the educational process in nursing " The student analyses the relationship between pedagogy and education of a child patient " The student will describe theories and specifics of children's education at all stages of development " The student will explain teaching strategies with regard to the developmental stages and the health of clients " The student lists the principles and specifics of communication in education and training " The student suggests and develops plans for education of clients (or other persons in their vicinity) " The student knows didactic principles and is able to apply them in the work of a nurse
