Learning outcomes
The break of the 20th and 21th centuries is often called the age of globalization, a unified world civilization, which can be, however, also regarded as a thin shell covering old traditions ans cultural models. Culture is, together with a social organization, a precondition of the human existence. There is no aspect of life of members of a society that is not moulded and modified by culture. Therefore, even in health and diseases appear certain specifics that are influenced by cultural customs and habits. The goal of the subject is to extend students` knowledge in the area of transcultural nursing. Students will acquire the knowledge of the concepts and scientific theories of culture, the importance of the language and identity of ethnic minorities, use of transcultural nursing models while providing a culturally competent care, methods and techniques of research studies with foreigners.
