Course content
Improvement of the quality of nursing care. Development of tools needed for the implementation of innovation methods. Interdisciplinary cooperation and the quality of the care provided. Classification systems and their use in secondary and tertiary care. Possibilities of implementation of scientific information and EBN in the area of secondary and tertiary care. Assessment tools, recording of care, management of the care quality, care effectiveness. Research and its use for the development of secondary and tertiary care. Evaluation systems in secondary and tertiary care.

Learning outcomes
The subject deals with the problems of secondary and tertiary nursing care. The organization`s possibilities to provide nursing care in facilities of secondary and tertiary healthcare according to their type. Real possibilities of improving the quality of nursing care from the points of view of the management and direct nursing care are discussed. The subject provides a theoretical basis for the practical use of tools needed for the implementation of innovation methods and approaches at the level of both management and direct care and education. Theoretical and practical foreign experience is used. Increased demands for interdisciplinary cooperation in providing and ensuring the continuity of care are stressed.
