Course content
Nursing perspectives in the area of theory, practice and science. The relations of philosophy, models and theory. Philosophy, science, theory: correlations and implications for nursing research. Three philosophical directions in nursing practice: Nightingale, Watson a Benner. Development of nursing knowledge - relation to science, philosophy and professional practice. Structure of nursing knowledge - analysis and evaluation of practical mean and summarizing theory. Nursing values, their promotion and defence. Philosophical and theoretical considerations: Innovative frameworks for health. The topic of social equity in nursing in an international context. Nursing in social equity: a case of emancipation disciplinary theoretization in foreign literature.

Learning outcomes
The subject offers theoretical sources for a deeper insight into the problems of nursing as an arts discipline in the context of relative disciplines and the globalized society undergoing a transformation. The values of nursing paradigm are reflected: an individual as a human being, environment, health and nurse. The urgency of monitoring and analysis of topical problems using scientific research and critical thinking, EBN and effective communication technologies to change the attitude to health and provide all individuals with healthcare are stressed. Students are taught to promote moral and ethical values both as professionals and and as clients` advocates to promote the image of nursing. Students are taught to cooperate with other specialties and professions. Furthermore, the subject increases the students` knowledge by the possibilities to apply the nursing philosophy to clinical practice reflecting and processing the New Trends in Clinical Disciplines, where students develop new nursing standards to be used in the nursing process to maintain and improve the nursing care quality.
