Course content
|
Topical questions of academic education, documents of educational politicy. Organization of education at the university (multi-degree education, modular and credit system). Academic profession (features, determinants of changes, academic career, structure of roles and activities, university teacher`s competences). University students and education, specifics of education and adult students` motivation (roles, motivation, approaches to the education, cognitive styles). Theoretical and practical questions of academic education, traditional and nontraditional forms, activizing methods, strategies based on individualization. Teaching methods and their application to the university setting, examples of individual methods and principles of their application. Projecting and assessment at the university, construction of didactic tests, mental hygiene of tests, methods of oral tests. Communication at the university, the teacher`s verbal and nonverbal communication, methods of self-presentation. Stress communication situations during the university lessons. Stress and stress management in the context of teaching activities. Academic culture: interpersonal relationships, culture of teaching and education, self-reflection of an academic teacher. Rhetoric (from Ancient Greece up to the present). Presentation (from the preparation to the performance). Presentation types and principles of their processing. Presentation construction - structurizing the information. Kinds of speeches. Publications, kinds of publications. Professional scientific articles. Index journals, quotation index, impact factor. Demands for journal articles and their structure. Ethical questions of presenting and publishing of results. Ethics and the technique of quoting, quotation responses, bibliometrics.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal of the subject is to introduce the university setting as a place where the students` first pedagogic experience will take place. An overview of the concept of the development of academic education will be acquired, and educational, psychological and didactic competences needed for teaching and the feedback of one`s own educational performance will be developed. Information on publishing professional articles, quotation index and impact fator will be provided.
