Course content
SEMINARS 1. Basic professional terminology in neurology, the role of the nurse in the patient examination in neurology, most common nursing problems and diagnosis in neurology 2. Nusing care for the patient with headache, disturbances of consciousness, traumas and brain and spinal tumors 3. Nursing care for the patient with vascular diseases of the brain 4. Nursing care for the patient with seizure diseases of the nervous system and sleep disorders 5. Nursing care for the patient with neuroinfections and demyelinating diseases of the nervous system 6. Nursing care for the patient with degenerative diseases of the nervous system 7. Nursing care for the patient with vertebrogenic pain syndrome and diseases of the peripheral nervous system

Learning outcomes
The subject is a part of disciplines of clinical nursing. The subject describes a basic terms, symptomatology in neurology and selected clinical conditions that affect the nervous system. Important part of the subject is understanding of specifics of the nervous system diseases and its impact for quality of life. In this context the subject is focused on specifics of nursing care for the patient in neurology and understanding of role of the nurse in primary, secundary and tertiary health care in conection to neurology. GOALS 1. To learn a professional terminology in neurology 2. To learn a role of the nurse in complex neurological diagnostic process 3. To learn a role of the nurse in primary, sekundary and tertiary health care in conection to neurology 4. To understand the selected clinical dontitions in neurology and its impact for quality of life of the patient 5. To understand the specifics of nursing care in conection to selected clinical conditions in neurology.
The student is oriented in professional nursing terminology The student know the role of the nurse in complex neurology diagnostic process The student know the role of the nurse in primary, secundary and tertiary health care in conection to neurology The student understand the causes, symptoms, diagnostics and therapy of selected clinical conditions in neurology The student understand the impact of selected illnesses of the nervous system for the quality of life The student know the specifics of nursing care in conection to selected clinical conditions in neurology The student is able to plan the nursing care in conection to specifics of selected illnesses of nervous system The student know the principles of education of the patients and their families in neurology
Prerequisites
The subject follows the knowledge of students in subjects of anatomy, physiology, pathology, clinical propedeutics, nursing process and human needs and nursing care for the patients in disciplines of internal medicine.

Written examination

Participation in seminars - 90%, activity, fullfilment of assigned tasks, self-study, didactic test, exam
