Course content
Strategies and tools for search of information. Thematic search in PubMed and Medline. Fulltext databases. Search in Wiley Interscience and ScienceDirect databases. Search in Web of Knowledge and Scopus quotation databases. Information sources for evidence-based practice, scientific databases Search in systematic evidence survey through the Cochrane Library. Formulation of clinical question Study types and designs Research validity and the methods of its control, evaluation criteria of studies, proposal of general criteria for evaluation Examples of practical implementation of changes

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
Teach the student to work with scientific material acquired from scientific publications and EBN and to apply them in pediatric nursing. Teach the student the fundamentals of critical scientific thinking - to understand the need and importance of scientific approach in pediatric nursing in practice.
The student will be able to apply scientific information when making decisions in the course of nursing process. The student will be able to formulate clinical questions, to identify the most accessible sources of information for evidence-based practice in nursing. The student will be able to search studies on the given topic. The student will be able to assess the validity of the studies by the evidence rules, to carry out subsequent selection and to summarize the results in clearly arranged form. The student will be demonstrate deeply specialized, systemized knowledge of theories and concepts standing in the foreground of knowledge of nursing at international level; the student has good grasp of the current expert literature and of different types of professional information resources

Oral examination, Student performance assessment

Seminar essay: problem description, formulation of relevant clinical question, analysis of adequate approach to assessment of acquired evidence and expert resources. Oral demonstration of expert knowledge.
