Course content
Seminars: 1. Introduction to the terminology of social communication. Definition of basic concepts. Etiquette in professional communication in nursing care. 2. Human personality. Typology of personality and communication. Social perception. 3. Motivation of communication. Communication skills. Communication barriers. Communication disorders. 4. Interpersonal communication. 5. Active listening, reflective and empathic listening. 6. Verbal communication. Speech as a phenomenon of the period. 7. Non-verbal communication. Body language. 8. Conducting an interview. 9. Self-presentation and communication in front of an audience. 10. Assertiveness, aggression, passivity, manipulation and use of power. 11. Communication with patients with special needs. 12. Communication with patients with special needs - a client with sensory disabilities. 13. Use of social work techniques in communication with clients. 14. Use of social work techniques in communication with clients with specific needs in medical facilities.

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to equip students with basic knowledge in the field of communication. The personal and social goal is for students to acquire the skills needed for professional communication in nursing care.
The student applies and expands knowledge from the subject Communication in Education in the professional work of a nutritional therapist (nutritional counselling) and other subjects.
