Course content
|
Lectures (1 lesson): 1. Basic emergency resuscitation ? basic vital functions, their disorders; call for professional help. 2. Communication with the operations centre; procedure after the arrival of professional help. 3. Basic emergency resuscitation ? emergency resuscitation of children. 4. Use of automated external defibrillation. 5. Shock - division of shock states, anti-shock measures. 6. ? 7. First aid for thermal trauma, electric shock, chemical trauma. 8. ? 9. Bleeding (arterial, venous, capillary; external, internal), stoppage of bleeding. 10. ? 11. First aid for selected non-traumatic emergencies. 12. Procedure in the event of a large number of wounded, CBRN, transport equipment. Exercise (1 lesson): 1.-2. Basic emergency resuscitation of an adult - examination of an unconscious victim, check of vital signs, patency of airways, monitoring of the victim's condition, recording of information. 3-4 Basic emergency resuscitation of a child; use of AED in CPR and external defibrillation 5-6 Basics of bandaging technique, immediate first aid in case of bleeding. 7-8 First aid for musculoskeletal injuries - sprains, dislocations, fractures (open and closed), fixation, manipulation of the affected person, improvised transport. 9-10 Model situations: sudden non-traumatic disorders of consciousness (vasovagal collapse, arrhythmia, emergency states in diabetes, hypo-, hyperglycemia, convulsive states ? epilepsy, febrile convulsions; intoxication). 11-12 Measurement of basic physiological functions; pharmacy used in home care.

Learning outcomes
|
The subject provides a brief overview of the main principles and procedures for providing emergency first aid, with special attention to procedures in the event of failure of basic vital functions and immediately life-threatening conditions. The content of the subject also includes situations of mass occurrence of victims in crisis situations and extraordinary events, including the CBRN phenomenon.
After successful completion of the course, the student should be able to independently diagnose the failure of basic life functions, recognize situations of immediate threat to life, perform basic emergency resuscitation and provide immediate lay first aid.
