Lectures (1 lesson): 1. 1. Security environment, security as a guarantee of prosperity. 2. 2. The role of the citizen in ensuring the defence of the state. 3. 3. Security system of the Czech Republic and related legislation. 4. 4. Military crisis situations. 5. 5. The Armed Forces of the Czech Republic and the Army of the Czech Republic, its history and development, mission, structure and main tasks. 6. 6. Active military service, extraordinary service. 7. 7. Conscription, mobilization. 8. 8. Backup of the armed forces. 9. 9. Involvement of the Czech Republic in international organizations and its importance. 10. 10. Humanitarian missions and military operations of the ACR abroad. 11. 11. Legal aspects of armed conflicts (international humanitarian law, law of war, combatants). 12. 12. Scope and tasks of regional military headquarters. Seminars (1 hour): 1. ? 2. Strategic security documents of the Czech Republic. 3. ? 4. Practical examination of legal regulations related to the issue of state defence. 5. ? 6. The tradition of the Army of the Czech Republic and its role in the security system of the Czech Republic. 7. ? 8. Active backup, its role and scope. 9. ? 10. Practical procedure for submitting an application by a non-governmental non-profit organization for financial support of actions carried out in support of POKOS. 11. ? 12. Practical examples of obligations and activities of institutions, legal entities and natural persons in the event of declaration of SOS and VS crisis situations.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquire information about the security system of the Czech Republic, the armed forces of the Czech Republic as part of it, the scope of the ACR, its main tasks and mutual links with the components of the IRS and other components of the state administration and local self-government participating and cooperating in the preparation of citizens for the defence of the state. Furthermore, supporting the development of students' civic-legal awareness in terms of strengthening their sense of professional, personal and civic responsibility towards the positive value system of a democratic society in connection with the fulfilment of tasks towards the state in the field of defence.
After completing the course, the student is able to orient him/herself in the basic issues of state defence, the functioning, structure and roles of the armed forces of the Czech Republic and the Army of the Czech Republic and their position in the security system of the Czech Republic. He orients him/herself in the legal norms and legislation related to the defence of the state, the preparation of the citizen for the defence of the state, and the obligations of citizens and institutions in relation to the defence of the state and its planning resulting from valid legal standards. After completing the course, the student is able to orient himself in the field of information and subsidy support for the preparation of citizens for the defence of the state.

Assessment methods and criteria

In order to receive credit, it is necessary to prepare a seminar paper: The seminar paper will be at least 5 pages of clear text. The introductory page, table of contents, list of abbreviations and list of used literature are not included in the text. Students are obliged to comply with the ČSN citation code. The student will present the elaborated topic as part of the colloquium. 90% participation in seminars.
