Course content
1. Introduction. Migration and integration. Legislation and terminology (refugee vs. immigrant) 2. Social work theories. Anti-Oppressive Theories for Social Work Practice. 3. Methods and techniques for social work - target group: immigrants, asylum seeker, recognized refugees and their children. 4. General methodology - Intercultural Communication and Fighting Discrimination. Prejudices and Stereotypes. 5. Counselling related to integration, help desk. 6. Intake. Intake form. The first meeting with client from different culture/backgrounds. 7. Extension of Intake. 8. Networking. 9. Coaching (employment and education). 10. Empowerment and Making Choices. 11. Outreaching work and Result-Based Accountibility. 12. Working with volunteers. 13. Social work with traumatized clients. 14. Additional methodologies related to country of origin.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Activating (simulations, games, drama), Work with multi-media resources (texts, internet, IT technologies), Case studies
Learning outcomes
During this course we will take a look at integration as a way to growing into democracy, while also considering religion, national tradition and habits. We will also explore various methods for integration (selected methods) - according the topics written below.
Students will be able to work with immigrants and use special social work methodology for integration and also use technical instruments for realizing the selected methodology (according suggested topics).
Prerequisites
There are no specific requirements for this course. It is necessary to study recommended literature and discuss selected topics during lectures and seminars.

Test, Self-reflection, Interim evaluation

1. Seminar work - topics Minorities and Immigrants Topics will be set up at the beginning of course (mainly the most numbered minorities living in students´country) Structure of seminar work: - history of migration of selected minority - culture, habits and traditions - non-verbal communication (similarities and differences) - value-systems - some selected words in minority language (e.g. hello, bye, how are you, etc.) - interesting information which are necessary to add (according student´s preferences) Formal requirements: Times New Roman, spacing 1, at least 2 pages, at least 5 citations from databases (Scopus is preferred), Harvard citation style, power point presentation at seminars
