Course content
Lectures: 1.Definition of the problem: goals, importance, principles of community and group social work. Distribution groups and types of communities. 2.Actual questions and issues of community and group social work in CZ and abroad: trends, news. development plans of social services-goals, process, use, community projects. 3.Models community social work-theoretical principles, strategies and goals, roles of social worker. 4.Therapeutic community-importance, principles, objectives, indications, social worker roles, methods and approaches in social group work, group dynamics. 5.Therapeutic community- clients with mental illness, personality disorders, adolescents and young adults addicted mothers and their children, adult clients with addiction to illegal drugs. 6.Possibilities of social work with a group of Roma. 7.Possibilities of community work with the Roma minority. 8.Actual possibilities of community and group work with drug addicts in the country and abroad. 9.Specific of social work with the community, civic, training, hobbies and church. 10.Specific methods, techniques and approaches of social work with groups of children, adults and seniors. Self-help groups. 11.Specific of social work in relation to different types community, choice of specific methods and techniques. 12.Problema of integration of immigrants, asylum seekers and their children as part of community planning. 13.Specific methods and techniques of group social work with immigrants, asylum seekers and their children. 14. Selected methods and techniques in community social work with immigrants with regard to integration in the region. Seminars: 1.Goasl,importance,principles of community social work with a group discussion,model situation. 2.Goals,importance,principles of social group work discussions, model situations,application of group work. 3.Actual questions and issues of community social work in CZ and abroad trends, news. Development plans social services and community projects, examples. 4.Actual questions and problems of group social work in CZ and abroad trends, news, social work methods and approaches. 5.Models of community social work model situations,examples. 6.Therapeutic community-targeted group of clients and examples,role of social worker,group dynamics, community leadership.7.Therapeutic community-application of methods and approaches in social group work.8.-9.Therapeutic community-group dynamics,leadership.10.Possibilities of social work with a group of Roma,application accesses,examples.11.Possibilities of community work with the Roma minority,application accesses,examples.12.Komunity social work with drug addicts in the country and abroad discussions,examples.13.Group social work with drug addicts in CZ and abroad,projections and analysis of film.14.Specific social work with the community,civic,training,hobbies and religious examples.15.Specific methods,techniques and approaches of group social work of children, adults and seniors,examples.16.Self help group-examples in CZ, abroad, model situations.17.Self help group-projection and analysis of film, leading self-help groups.18.Specific social work in relation to different types of communities selection of specific methods and techniques and their use in specific situations.19.Specific methods and techniques of group and community social work with immigrants, refugees ie. networking, outreaching. Examples of good practice in selected EU countries and CZ.20.Obstacles in the integration of immigrants, asylum seekers and their children and their solutions in the context of community and group social work.21.Integration models and their use in community social work compared integration in CZ and selected EU countries. 22.Organization working with immigrants, asylum seekers and their specific role in the integration process as part of community planning.23.-25.Specific methods and techniques of community social work with immigrants within integration.Case study.

Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to deepen the issue of community social work and social group work, application of selected specific methods and approaches for different target groups in the practice. Student will be familiar with current issues of community social work and social work with groups in the country and abroad. Community social work and group social work will be aimed at the following target groups: clients with mental illness, clients with personality disorder, for adolescents and young adults addicted mothers and their children, adult clients with addiction to illegal drugs, the elderly, a group of Roma and Roma minority, immigrants and refugees and their children.
The student knows the goals, strategies, methods and principles of community social work and group social work. The student knows the specific examples of community social work and group social work in Czech Republic and abroad. Students can apply selected specific methods and approaches for different target groups to practice. The student knows the current issues of community social work and group social work in Czech Republic and abroad.
Prerequisites
There are no specific requirements for this course. It is necessary to study recommended literature and discuss selected topics during lectures and seminars.
