Course content
Lecture - Definition and contents of early care and its organization, course of service - Most frequent diseases of children with hearing impairment indicated for early care - Early care for children with specific hearing needs and subsequent facilities - Active seeking of children with hearing impairment and possibilities of their integration - Experience workshop focused on children with hearing handicaps - Most frequent diseases of children with sight impairment indicated for early care - Early care for children with specific sight needs and subsequent facilities - Active seeking of children with sight impairment and sight stimulation - Visits to relevant facilities connected with experience workshop - Early care for other target groups (e.g. with physical and mental handicap) - Particularities of early care for children with combined handicaps - Case study workshop - Association of early care workers - Current topic

Learning outcomes
The goal of the subject is to acquire theoretical knowledge and skills in the area of early care, its organization and course of service. Within the subject, the students will learn information on the causes of hearing impairments, on diagnostics and potential compensation aids, on sight impairment and on the program of sight simulation, on mental and combined handicaps. Further, they will get comprehensive survey of individual early cares intended for the relevant target group. Based on personal experience of the parents, the students will become aware of the significance of early care, of subsequent services and possibilities of handicapped children.
By passing the subject, the student will acquire information on early care and its segmentation by target groups. The student will also acquire practical experience from work with handicapped children in families, which will enable grasp of the relevant issues to the student.
