Key learning outcomes The aim of this postgraduate study is professional development of research fellows and specialists in the area of biology education with following competencies: (i) be to able to investigate and analyze science / biology curricula in all the school types including universities that provide biology teachers' education, (ii) be to able to suggest educational conceptions and solutions based on scientific methodology, (iii) be to able to define main trends in the biology, and (iv) to transform its scientific knowledge to the science / biology education, (v) be to able to be professional leaders of science / biology teacher groups and to develop science / biology education conception of a concrete school.
Specific admission requirements The applicants will be accepted on the basis of an interview.
Specific provisions for recognition of prior learning (a) Graduation in Master study programme Teacher Training in Natural History or Biology or study programme with biology background, (b) applicant must have undertaken pedagogy and educational psychology (c) ability to use English language
Qualification requirements and regulations Applicants must demonstrate good knowledge and skills in the area of biology education, pedagogy, educational psychology and methodology of scientific work. Examination will be partially conducted in English language.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples The graduate is qualified to observe, transform and implement new findings in earth science into the programme contents of primary, secondary and third level schools including teacher training faculties. The graduate will be trained to develop lifelong learning and biology-popularization programmes. He/she will acquire knowledge and skills enabling his professional adaptability within the specific conditions of his work position in the area of education, civil service, or non-governmental organizations.
