Key learning outcomes The aim of the follow-up Master´s degree programme Science Teacher Education for Secondary Schools is to prepare and motivate students for the teaching profession at the secondary level and, throughout their studies, to develop their subject-specific, subject-didactic, and pedagogical-psychological competences necessary for educating a modern teacher of science subjects. The programme has been designed in response to changes in the national curricular framework for both lower and upper secondary education, where integrated science teaching has been or will be introduced, alongside an increased emphasis on informatics and digital technologies. The programme follows the key strategic objectives and priorities of the Strategy 2030+ and reflects the ongoing reform of initial teacher education. A central objective of the programme is the application of modern teaching methods, which graduates will subsequently implement in their own practice (e.g. project-based learning, flipped classroom, inquiry-based learning, blended learning). During the course of study, emphasis is placed on developing subject expertise, knowledge of subject didactics, general pedagogy, and psychology, all with a strong focus on secondary school practice. Subject didactics and teaching practice are built on close cooperation with schools and are delivered by qualified experts and experienced secondary school teachers who are employed part-time at the Faculty of Science of the University of South Bohemia. Furthermore, part of the subject didactics instruction takes place directly in secondary schools. Graduates of the Science Teacher Education for Secondary Schools programme will, upon successful completion of their studies, be able to: - perform professionally as secondary school teachers of science subjects, both integrated and within specific specialisations - design and develop school educational programmes (SEPs) for integrated science teaching - plan and deliver instruction using modern, activating teaching methods - manage non-standard situations in the classroom and beyond - motivate and engage students and support democratic principles within the classroom and school environment - understand current trends in education and collaborate with colleagues and school leadership on school vision and development - use diagnostic and evaluation tools to identify specific contextual factors and individual student needs - navigate various approaches to student assessment and evaluation of their own teaching actively work with English-language information resources (acquiring new knowledge, monitoring global trends in science education, etc.)
