Course content
The content of the course is based on the objectives of the course and will be adapted to the topic of the student's doctoral thesis. In addition to the recommended literature, the study suplementary materials are international peer-reviewed publications from the Web of Knowledge, SCOUPUS and other databases. 1. Economic and ecological thinking, why and in what way they differ 2. The reaction of economists of different schools to the ecological crisis 3. Economic efficiency, paradox of value, efficiency and distribution 4. Human behavior and economics 5. Functions of money and their adequacy in economic systems 6. Thermodynamic laws and sustainable development - principles and philosophies 7th Rio de Janeiro Country Summit, Johannesburg Summit, Rio + 20 8. Indicators of sustainable development, Ecological footprint and ISEW 9. Market failure, public goods and internalisation of externalities 10. Market and growing inequalities in agri-food verticals 11. Methods of valuing nature as a correction of market failures 12. Env. taxes, limits and orders, trades. permits, subsidies; economist. tools and CBA 13. Sustainable scope, fair distribution, efficient allocation 14. Global economy and environment

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to clarify the broader theoretical and practical context of the relationship between economics, economic systems and the Earth's environment. Ecological economics represents a new transdisciplinary approach, a new economic-ecological paradigm closely related to the philosophy of sustainable development.
The course will allow to understand the economic and ecological style of thinking, telling about a specific approach to reality - their similarities and differences. It will provide knowledge for decision-making in a globalized world with regard to the thermodynamic nature of life and the need to maintain the living conditions of the Earth, using economic instruments and valuation of natural resources

Knowledge from university studies (Mgr. resp. Ing.) in the field of economics, ecology and agriculture
