Course content
Acquisition and deepening of theoretical and practical knowledge about weeds. Causes of weeds, harmfulness and usefulness of weeds and their ecological significance. With a focus on preventive, mechanical and biological methods of weed control on arable land. Classification and categorization of weed harmfulness. Generative and vegetative ways of spreading, dormancy of weed seeds. Influence of weeds and crops - competition, competition, plant allopathy. Changes in the species spectrum of weeds, the influence of sowing sequences, tillage, etc. on changes in weed communities. Biology and regulation of main weed species. Tendency to spread weeds on arable land. Classification and categorization of weed harmfulness. Generative and vegetative ways of spreading, dormancy of weed seeds. The aim is to acquire knowledge in the field of herbology and to clarify theoretical and practical knowledge in the application of comprehensive weed control using appropriate preventive, agrotechnical, cultivation and chemical interventions.
