Course content
The weedy species, and their importance in agriculture.The invasion and expansion. Classification and categorisation is harmful weeds. Biology of weeds, generative and vegetative reproduction and dissemination of diasporas. Dormancy weed seeds. Relations weeds and crop, allelopathy, competition - competition. Changes of species, sowing succession weed, soil management, plant nutrition, herbicides and non-agricultural activities to change weed communities. Weed resistance to herbicides. Infestation control methods. Selectivity, rezidualita and application of herbicides. Biology and control the weed species. Computerisation in herbologii.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)
  • Class attendance - 52 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 50 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 30 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to clear up theoretical and practical knowledge at applying complex weed control using suitable preventive, agrotechnical, agronomical and chemical interventions.
Students will learn to determine basic types of weeds, gain expertise in terms of mechanical, chemical and biological weed control methods applied in agriculture.
Prerequisites
General knowledge of science subjects at high school and newly at ZFJU, botany, agriculture.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam, Seminar work

Processing of seminar work, determination of selected weeds, their seedlings and seeds.
