Course content
The relation of agriculture to the enviroment. General principles of sustainable farming and organic farming. Organic farming organs and associations in the Czech republic and in the world. Principles and methods of crop production in organic farming systems, in relation to animal production. Natural methods of animal breeding. Quality, processing, marketing and economic aspects of organic production. Non-food crop production, industrial and energetic crops.

  • Preparation for classes - 30 hours per semester

  • Semestral paper - 20 hours per semester

Learning outcomes
The subject aims to introduce and describe the principles of sustainable farming, forms and methods of use and protection of farming land, productive and non-productive functions of agriculture and legislation concerning organic and alternative farming.
After completing the subject, the student is able to decide on methods of production and protection of environment in the ecological way of farming while respecting the legislative principles (NR 834/2007 EU) and related regulations
Prerequisites
General knowledge of science subjects at high school and newly at ZFJU, botany, agriculture.

Credit Requirements: Participation in consultations, elaboration and presentation of seminar work individually or in pairs Examination Requirements: Written test (80% of successful completion), analysis of incomplete or incomplete answers, oral exam
