Since the primitive cultivation of the first cultivated plants, this field has developed into a modern discipline using the latest technology. Details about the history of agricultural activities can be found in the publication: Beneš, J. (2018). Počátky zemědělství ve Starém světě: pohled paleoekologie a environmentální archeologie. Jihočeská univerzita v Českých Budějovicích. The book describes current trends in modern agricultural production: Neudert, L. a kol. (2015). Precizní zemědělství - Technologie a metody v rostlinné produkci. Mendelova univerzita v Brně. Thanks to its geomorphology, the Czech Republic is a territory with a diverse range of natural conditions that directly impact landscape development and agricultural production. Due to soil-forming factors and conditions, many soil species and types with different natural soil fertility, slope and generally different suitability for intensive agricultural activity have emerged in our territory. The book deals with soil conditions in our region: Rejšek, K., & Vácha, R. (2018). Nauka o půdě. Agriprint s.r.o. The mutual relations between agricultural production and the landscape are addressed in the publications: Šarapatka, B., & Niggli, U. (2008). Zemědělství a krajina: cesty k vzájemnému souladu. Univerzita Palackého v Olomouci. Vlach, M., & Javůrek, M. (2008). Rostlinná produkce s ohledem na agroekologická hlediska. Výzkumný ústav rostlinné výroby. In addition to "classical" agriculture, referred to as conventional agriculture. In the Czech Republic, the most widespread alternative is organic farming. Basic information on this form of agriculture can be obtained, for example, from the Czech Technological Platform for Organic Agriculture (https://www.ctpez.cz/cz). Nowadays, agriculture does not only provide food or feed production. Agricultural products are also used in industry or energy. This issue is outlined, for example, in the book: Součková, H. & Moudrý, J. (2006). Nepotravinářské využití fytomasy. Jihočeská univerzita v Českých Budějovicích. However, the non-productive functions of agriculture cannot be overlooked, which are typical, especially for less intensive farming systems, which are often practised in mountain and foothill areas. The recommended literature in this field is the book: Šarapatka, B. a kol. (2010). Agroekologie - východiska pro udržitelné zemědělské hospodaření. Bioinstitut, o. p. s. For a broader knowledge of agricultural issues, it is advisable to follow specialized websites such as www.agris.cz or www.agroweb.cz.
