Course content
Syllabus: 1. Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education - vocabulary and phrases 2. The Czech Education System, Characteristics of Basic Education 3. Basic Education - Current Debates 4. Teacher Training & Teaching Practice 5. Educational areas, CLIL 6. Subject Cross-Overs 7. Classroom & Pupils 8. Home-School Relationship 9. Organising a Class Event 10.-11. Formal writing 12. Presentation skills 13. Closing discussion

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Demonstration, Work with multi-media resources (texts, internet, IT technologies)
Learning outcomes
The students will revise and deepen their knowledge of English while focusing on further development of their communication skills. Discussion topics will address various aspects of teachers' work and school life. The course objectives include practising presentations skills in the area of studied subjects and preparation for communication with foreign colleagues and education institutions.
Ability to discuss both education-related and general topics in spoken and written form.
Prerequisites
English at B1 level of language proficiency.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Test

Students are required to be active in seminars. They are expected to present a paper on a particular topic based on their curriculum (8 - 10 minutes). The presentation topic needs to be discussed with the lecturer in advance. There is a written test at the end of the course.
