Course content
1) characteristics of young language learners 2) mother tongue acquisition 3) learning a second language 4) learning styles and strategies 5) accounting for differences between learners (age, motivation) 6) methods of teaching foreign languages

Learning outcomes
In the first semester of methodology participants will become familiar with basic theoretical principles underlying ELT methodology with a particular focus on primary learners. They will study language learning/acquisition theories, methods for teaching young learners, learning styles and strategies, classroom management and factors affecting learning.
The students will be familiar with basic theoretical principles underlying the teaching of English to young learners.
Prerequisites
Basic ability to read methodological texts in English

Test

All examinations and consultations are held in English. A written test with a 70% passmark
