14 weeks 1-2: text and its general characteristics 3: functional concept of text 4-5: text and context, coherence and cohesion, written and spoken texts 6: fiction 1 7: fiction 2 8: administrative text 9: academic text 10: popular science 11: essay 12: fundamentals of pragmatics 13: final test - textual analysis 14: evaluation of the test

Learning outcomes
The subject explores the essential mechanisms of text building and the roles of linguistic units of all language levels involved in the process, coherence and cohesion, specific features of spoken and written language, and fundamental pragmatic concepts. An important component of the course is practical textual analysis of different types of texts.
Mastering the basic principles governing the construction of texts of different registers.
