Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce the theory and practice of translation to the students who achieved sufficient language competence (C1) and display interest in literary translation. The students will meet basic terms that concern types of translation, the phases of the process of translating and translation methods. They will become familiar with the typology of both English and Czech language and in the practical part they will prepare their own texts and their translation.
Competence in reading and literature, fluency in written English and Czech.
Prerequisites
C1 according to The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages Interest in literature, literary translation and Czech language

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Analysis of creative work (musical, visual, literary)

All examinations and consultations are held in English. The student is to hand in a literary translation extract (3-5 pages).
