Course content
The course deals with terminological, methodological, geographical and historical specification of the subject; the specific character of journalistic texts; developing a literary theme; the basic types and techniques of composition; language aspects of a literary work; imagery; poetry and theory of verse; metre; traditional verse forms and onomatopoeia; literary genres; dramatic genres; analysing and interpreting particular works or extracts from English and American literature.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
Introducing students to major technical terms and methods employed in analysing works of literature.
The ability to interpret works of English literature in the original and learning the methods of literary analysis.
Prerequisites
Minimum entry level of English: Upper-Intermediate.

Student performance assessment, Interview

All examinations and consultations are held in English. Active participation in the seminar; an essay analysing a chosen work of literature.
