Course content
1) Introducing yourself, family 2) Word order in questions, present simple 3) Favourite picture, present continuous 4) Defining relative clauses, making definitions, 5) Past simple regular, irregular verbs 6) Past continuous 7) Questions with/without auxiliaries 8) Revision of past tenses 9) Future with "going to" 10) Future with "will" 11) Making promises, offers, decisions, revision of future tenses 12) Present perfect 13) Comparatives 14) Superlatives One article on the topic of the students' professional focus will be covered every lesson.

Learning outcomes
In practical language lessons, students will acquire the use of basic grammatical structures in conversation. The aim is that students are able to respond promptly to conversational topics from everyday life and their professional field and take this opportunity to practise the correct use of grammar contained in the recommended textbook. Emphasis is also placed on understanding scientific texts from the field of study.
Students will be able to use English language at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. They will speak fluently about topics from the field of study and profession. They will understand the articles from the literature on these topics.
The level of knowledge required for enrolling is Pre-Intermediate.

Assessment methods and criteria

All examinations and consultations are held in English. The requirements for passing this subject are active participation, preparing for the classes and passing the final test.
