Course content
Characteristics of the Aves class and their representatives protected by CITES with emphasis on the species listed in Annex I, their distribution, biology, degree and type of threat and protection: orders Struthioniformes, Rheiformes, Tinamiformes, Sphenisciformes, Podicipediformes, Procellariiformes, Pelecaniformes, Ciconiiformes, Anseriformes, Falconiformes , Galliformes, Gruiformes, Charadriiformes, Psittaciformes, Cuculiformes, Strigiformes, Apodiformes, Trogoniformes, Coraciiformes, Piciformes, Passeriformes.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students the overview of the biology of bird species included in individual CITES categories - Annexes I, II and III, event. A, B, C and D (Annexes to the European Regulation). Characteristics of the Aves class and their representatives protected by CITES with emphasis on the species listed in Annex I, their distribution, biology, degree and type of threat and protection: orders Struthioniformes, Rheiformes, Tinamiformes, Sphenisciformes, Podicipediformes, Procellariiformes, Pelecaniformes, Ciconiiformes, Anseriformes, Falconiformes , Galliformes, Gruiformes, Charadriiformes, Psittaciformes, Cuculiformes, Strigiformes, Apodiformes, Trogoniformes, Coraciiformes, Piciformes, Passeriformes.
Ability of a solid orientation in taxonomy, extension, biology, type of threats, protection of bird species included in CITES categories. List of representatives of orders of birds in Annexes I, II, III CITES: Struthioniformes, Rheiformes, Tinamiformes, Sphenisciformes, Podicipediformes, Procellariiformes, Pelecaniformes, Ciconiiformes, Anseriformes, Falconiformes, Galliformes, Gruiformes, Charadriiformes, Psittaciformes, Cuculiformes, Strigiformes, Apodiformes, Trogoniformes, Coraciiformes, Piciformes, Passeriformes.
Prerequisites
Attendance at lectures, at least 80% attendance at seminars, knowledge of bird biology and CITES convention.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Seminar work

Detailed knowledge of taxonomy, occurrence, causes of threats, rescue programs and biology of bird species included in CITES lists.
