Course content
|
Lectures: Hierarchical organization of life. Basic strucutes of plant cells, structural characteristics of main type of plant tissues and organs (root, shoot, leaf, flower, fruit) and their modifications. Examples of relationships between the structuure and function at particular levels of the hierarchical organization of the plant body. Anatomical and morphological characteristics commonly used in the determination of plant taxa. Demonstration: Anatomical drawing, microphotography, quantitative assessment of plant structures. Determination of plant taxa on the basis of anatomical and morphological characteristics.

Learning outcomes
|
To harmonise and further develop students' knowledge of plant structures as a pre-requisite for understaning plant functions in a following course of plant physiology.
Insight into the strucural pre-requisites for plant functioning. Ability to use the plant strucural characteristis for species determination.
