Course content
Content of lectures: The importance of plants in terrariums, as opposed to the specifics of aquariums. Principles and methods of growing terrarium plants. Selection of plant species suitable for terrariums of different types, biotope terrariums. Wetland plants for aqua-terrariums and paludariums for breeding amphibians and some aquatic reptiles. Plants of moist terrariums for keeping rain-forest animals, including an overview of suitable plant epiphytes (Bromeliaceae, etc.). Plants for terrariums with arid conditions, overview of suitable succulent plants. Plants for terrariums with the conditions of temperate climate. Following the course of Botany, positions of the discussed aquarium plants in the taxonomic system.

Learning outcomes
The course deals with the importance of plants in terrariums, principles mounting terrariums, an overview of plants suitable for use in different types of terrariums.
Basic knowledge of botany and anatomy of plants.
Prerequisites
attendance at seminars, 10-15 minute oral presentation, knowledge of basic principles of ecology and botanical classification.

Student performance assessment, Interview, Combined exam, Test, Seminar work
