Course content
|
Content of tutorials/seminar: After introductory presentations on selected current research topic given by the lecturers, the course will be run as a Journal club. Students will present recent scientific papers based on their own choice and approved by the lecturer. All presentations will be followed by a discussion.

Learning outcomes
|
The course will familiarise the students with current topics in ecosystem biology research, swith emphasis on processes in soil and aquatic ecocystems. It aims to develop the following key skills: to critically assess, present to others and interpret the conclusions of scientific studies, and to discuss their relevance in a wider context of basic and applied research. The course is intended primarily for the students of the Masters programme of Ecosystem Biology.

Assessment methods and criteria

Regular active presence (at least 75% of seminars). Students will prepare a visual presentation of selected papers and at the end write an essay summarizing 1-2 papers discussed during the seminars.
