Course content
Content seminar: 1. Introduction to geography. Geography as a science. Teaching geography. 2. Significant geographers, introduction to projects at KBE, study abroad. 3. Formalities of the essay, citations, references, essay assignments. 4. Reviewing the local geography of Czechia, presentation of essays on the given topic. 5. Written test of orientation on the map of Czechia, review of Europe, presentation of essays on the given topic. 6. Written test of orientation on the map of Europe, review of North America, presentation of essays on the given topic 7. Written test of orientation on the map of North America, revision of Latin America, presentation of essays on the given topic 8. Written test on map orientation of Latin America, review of Africa, presentation of essays on the topic 9. Written test on map orientation Africa, revision of Asia, presentation of essays on the given topic 10. Written test on map orientation of Asia, revision of Australia, presentation of essays on the topic 11. Written test on map orientation of Australia, revision of Arctic and Antarctica, presentation of essays on the given topic 12. Learning outcomes
Within the course, students will get acquainted with the field of Geography and the possibilities of studying didactics of Geography at JU. The aim of the course is also the formal preparation of students necessary for their studies and future teaching, together with the review of basic local geography and basic characteristics of the continents at the level of high school knowledge.

Assessment methods and criteria

Students will prepare a short essay on a selected topic, which they will present in a seminar, where a discussion with other students will also take place (20% of the grade). In the seminars, they will successfully complete written tests focused on the orientation on the map of the different continents of the world (80% of the grade).
