Course content
1. Introduction, 2.-14. German and Czech Romanticsm; European Ossianism and literature of Jungmans´generation; Drama of the National Revival period and its German context; Czech and German Biedermeier, Russian realism and Czech literature in the fourties years of the 19th century; H. Heine inspirations in the works of Group Máj; French inspirations in the works of the poetic generation of the 2nd half of the 19th century; context of the Slavonic literature; European and Czech Decadence; Modernism of the 1890's in Czech and European literary context; Drama of Czech and European impresionism.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
The course is concentrated to problems of the Czech literature of the first half of the19th century, especially in the context of European literature as a whole.
Ability of the analyses of the text structure and literary-historical interpretation with regards to comprehension of the contemporary literary kontext.
Prerequisites
The course presupposes basic knowledge of Czech Language and Literature.
