Course content
(1) Lower secondary education as the civil education: the question of key topics at the beginning of 21st century and IBSE (see eg. Rocard et al. 2007); (2, 3) key topics of plant biology (4,5) key topics of animal biology 6,7) key topics of human biology (8,9) key topics of earth sciences (10, 11, 12) key topics of ecology and global problems (13, 14) what, why and how to teach problems of evolutionary and developmental biology and GMO?

Learning outcomes
Seminar with relative large participation of students is focused on the transformation of key themes of biology and geology to the educational subject biology or natural history. It is aimed on questions "What? ", "Why?" and "How to teach?". Train of thought "branch of science" - "school science" - "science in the classroom" is followed. Students are led to the designing of a didactic transformation of science branch (theme) with respect to the educational aims and age of pupils.
Student is able to analyze selected biological topic and achieve to design a didactic transformation of this topic with respect to the educational aims and age of pupils.
Prerequisites
Student has essentials of didactic od biology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Interview, Seminar work

Presentation with discussion (an elaborating of the analysis of attributes and processes of chosen partial topic on the level of science knowledge; evaluation of its importance for general education; original (own) transformation of educational unit in confrontation with the concept of the same unit presented in school textbooks and designing appropriate teaching methods / selection among various forms and teachers´ strategies/; substantiation). All materials related to the lessons of science didactics (e.g. seminar theses and essays, projects, literature reviews etc.) are summed at the preservice teacher's portfolio which reflects professional skills and experience.
