Course content
1. Introduction into Ecology as a science. 2. Organism and relationships with the environment (occurrence and distribution organisms, biogeographical areals, various forms of areals, adaptations, evolution, koevolution, biotop, ecotop). 3. Environmental factors (classification, law of the minimum, limiting factor, ecological valence). Environmental resources. 4. Environmental conditions and its impact to organism. 5. Organisms as o food resources. 6. Population ecology (basic characteristics). 7. Population dynamics, growth and strategy. 8. Relationships (classification). Intraspecific relationships. 9. Interspecific relationships. 10. Biocenosis (basic characteristics, diversity, structure, types, ecotons). 11. Biocenosis dynamics, changes in time. 12. Ecosystems (structure and function, production, energy circulation). 13. Matter circulation (O, C, N, P, S, Fe). 14. Ecosystem types (limnical, marine and terrestrial ecosystems, biomes)

Learning outcomes
The basic course of Ecology deals with Ecology as a science. The elementary information on environmental factors (environmental conditions and resources), population ecology (characteristics, dynamics, growth and strategy), interspecific relationships, biocenosis (structure, changes in time) and ecosystems (structure, function, types, biomes) will be offered.
Students will use the achieved knowledge in next courses, mainly in the botany courses (plant ecology), in the zoology courses (animal ecology) and in the environment protection. The students will get the necessary theoretically knowledge for transformation into the didactical system of education in science and in environmental education.

Knowledge in fundamental ecological terms, laws and relations in nature.
