Course content
Classification, principles of biology and ecology of following groups of animals as well as principles of knowledge application in natural history teaching. 1. PARAZOA: Porifera (=Silicispongea + Calcispongea) 2. EPITHELIOZOA: Placozoa*, DIPLOBLASTICA: Cnidaria, Ctenophora ; 3. TRIPLOBLASTICA (= BILATERALIA): Acoelomorpha*, Mesozoa*; PROTOSTOMIA: Chaetognatha(?)*, Lophotrochozoa: Platyhelminthes I, 4. Lophotrochozoa: Platyhelminthes II., Syndermata (= Rotifera + Acanthocephala), Micrognathozoa*, Cycliophora*, Gnathostomulida*, Gastrotricha, Cycliophora*, Phoronida*, Brachiopoda*, Bryozoa, Entoprocta*, Nemertea, 5. Lophotrochozoa: Mollusca, Sipuncula*, 6. Lophotrochozoa: Echiura*, Annelida; 7. Ecdysozoa: Cephalorhyncha* (= Priapula, Kinorhyncha, Loricifera), Ecdysozoa: Nematoda, Nematomorpha, 8. Learning outcomes
(1) Advancement of knowledge on diversity, biology, ecology, classification and phylogeny of invertebrates. (2) To offer of theoretical and application basis for teaching of sciences at secondary school in this context.
Student acquires knowledge on the biology and classification of invertebrate animals that are necessary for sciences education at secondary school and/or at junior high school.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined exam

(1) To get an overview about diversity and classification of invertebrates as well as knowledge on their biology. (2) To gain more detailed knowledge on model invertebrate species (or their groups = higher taxa) applicable in teaching of sciences at secondary school.
