Course content
Demonstrations, determinations and preparations 1. Porifera, Cnidaria, Platyhelminthes 2. Mollusca. morphology and anatomy of Helix pomatia, including morphology of the shell,. 3. Mollusca:; demonstration of selected gastropods, bivalvs, scaphopods, and cephalopods 4. Annelida: morphology and anatomy of earthworms (Lumbricus or Allolobophora). demonstrations of selected annelids including Polychaeta and leaches. 5. Nematoda, Rotifera; morphology, anatomy. 6. Arthropoda: Chelicerata: Arachnida: Scorpionida, Araneae, Acarina 7. Arthropoda: Crustacea: planktonic crustaceans (Daphnia, Bosmina, Leptodora), Cyclops, nauplius stage), and parasitic branchiurans (Argulus) 8. Arthropoda: Crustacea: morphology of crayfish (Orconectes), crab (Carcinus), examples of anisopods and isopods including terrestrial ones 9. Arthropoda: Myriapoda: Chilopoda and Diplopoda; Hexapoda: Collembola. 10. Arthropoda: Hexapoda: comparative morphology of Insecta 11. Arthropoda: Hexapoda: anatomy of Insecta (Periplaneta americana) 12. Arthropoda: . Hexapoda: Insecta: demonstration of Hemimetabola 13. Arthropoda: Hexapoda: Insecta: demonstration of Holometabola 14. Echinodermata; demonstration of selected representatives.

Learning outcomes
To offer an overview on diversity of invertebrates through demonstrations of selected species as well as higher invertebrate taxa and their important structures.
Ability to differentiate selected invertebrates and their structures. Ability to apply these skills in sciences education at secondary school.

Student performance assessment, Didactic test

Knowledge of classification and invertebrate discrimination skills and demonstration of their diagnostic characters.
