Content of practicals: -Design a targeted literature research -Development of different types of data analyses -Use of multiple diversity indices -Discussion of hypotheses and results -Writing different sections for scientific publications -Selection of appropriate journal -Communication with the editorial office

Learning outcomes |
This course aims at publishing one paper in collaboration with students (on the basis of data provided by the tutors), by showing how to creatively choose and use data to answer potential ecological questions in community ecology. Students, as a group, will choose how to use the data, analyze them and prepare a manuscript for publication.
Students will get the basic knowledge how to write papers for scientific journals, will get hands-on experience with data analysis, but also with working in team, and with communication with editorial office and reviewers. |
Prerequisites |
It is expected that students have the basic knowledge of data analysis methods, have some writing experience (e.g. undergraduate thesis), and some basic knowledge in ecology. Special course for Ph.D. study field Botany and Entomology

Assessment methods and criteria |
Essay, Student performance assessment
Active participation in the work of the group, attendance at least 80%. For authorship, also substantial contribution to writing. |
