Course content
Review of the basic determination literature (Flora, Key, Checklist, Atlas, etc.; floras, keys and distribution atlases available for Central European countries; the most important literature for other parts of Europe and for Europe as a whole). Working with herbarium material. Determination of selected difficult plant groups (e.g. Asteraceae, Brassicaceae, Cyperaceae, Poaceae, Salix, Taraxacum, Rubus, aquatic plants, etc.): understanding variation and determination problems in the particular group (in so called "critical groups", e.g. apomictic plants, including the theoretical principles of their taxonomic classification), learning the main determination characters, practical determination (both fresh and herbarium material). Field excursion.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge the most important Central European and European determination literature. Learning the basic techniques of preparation of plants and work with herbarium material. Increasing the students' knowledge of plants and getting practical skills in plant determination.

Combined exam

Attendance to the lectures (min. 75%), attendance to the field excursion. Determination of selected plant species.
