Course content
|
Lectures: 1. Subject-matter of biochemistry, biochemical function and structure of a cell 2. Enzymology (structure and function of enzymes, classification of enzymes) 3. Enzymology (enzyme activity, enzyme kinetics, inhibition and activation of enzymes) 4. Biochemical energetics, metabolic pathways, regulation of enzyme reactions 5. Glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, fermentation 6. Decarboxylation of pyruvate, citric acid cycle, oxidative phosphorylation 7. Pentose cycles, metabolism of polysaccharides (glycogen) 8. Photosynthesis (light stage, dark stage C3 and C4) 9. Basic metabolism of amino-acids, ornithine cycle 11. Metabolism of nucleic acids (structure and function of nucleic acids, replication). 12. Metabolism of nucleic acids (transcription, translation).

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide a basic knowledge of biochemistry. The course begins with a introduction to enzymology and metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and nitrogen-containing compounds.
On the basic gain knowledge biochemistry has alumnus competence use his konwledge in of other chemical and naturalist disciplines.

Commanding of the basics of selected parts of biochemistry with respect to the necessary understanding of inorganic, organic and physical chemistry
