Course content
Laboratory exercises: 1. Determination of saccharides in biological material 2. Photometric determination of enzyme activity 3. Effect of enzyme concentration on reaction speed 4. Isolation of nucleic acids 5. Determination of enzyme pH-optimum 6. Effect of substrate concentration on reaction speed

Laboratory

Learning outcomes
Main goals of the course are to learn basic laboratory techniques used in biochemistry and to deepen theoretical knowledge by conducting real experiments.
After successful passing the course, students are expected to be familiar with basic laboratory techniques used in biochemistry. The acquired knowledge may be employed in student education or in commercial laboratories.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of basic laboratory chemistry techniques.

Assessment methods and criteria
Analysis of student's work activities (technical works)

Commanding of the basics of selected parts of biochemistry with respect to the necessary understanding of inorganic, organic and physical chemistry
