Course content
The course thematically covers the following areas: 1) Community 2) Human and social capital, trust in the community and society 3) Civil society and subsidiarity 4) Primary sources of community assistance, power and empowerment 5) Social work in the community 6) Models and tactics of community work 7) Social work with the community and the risks of "social engineering" 8) Community planning of social services 9) Churches and religious societies in the territorial community 10) Social work with society

Learning outcomes
The course focuses mainly on territorial communities. It is based on the question of whether the community is rather the object of social work or, conversely, social work with the community is the most effective way of solving the problems of its members, ie individuals, families and groups that make it up. It therefore emphasizes social work in the community as a comprehensive approach to the problems of community members; he understands community planning of social services in addition to it.
Students will acquire the following professional knowledge and skills within the course: knowledge: - Student understands the concepts of community, social work with the community, community planning of social services, social capital, human capital, civil society, empowerment, subsidiarity - The student is aware of the societal context of community work. skills: - The student is able to use techniques of working with the community, can plan the process of community work and evaluate it, can enter the role of a social worker in the process of community planning of social services - The student is able to distinguish when it is necessary to deploy community work and when it is not necessary; can avoid social experiments with the community, or companies

Assessment methods and criteria

The condition for granting the credit is: a) Elaborate an essay of 3-5 pages, in which the student thinks about the real current social problem and the possibilities of its solution through social work with the community. The essay is submitted via the Moodle system. b) Prepare a paper on a given topic for a colloquium. The paper must be based on the assigned literature: summarize the views of the authors, compare them and comment on the basis of the student's own arguments. The topics of the paper change year-on-year and are specified at the beginning of the semester. The student must confirm the assignment of the topic of the paper by 31.10. c) Pass a test of knowledge acquired through self-study of the assigned literature. Success must be more than 60% of correctly answered questions. The student registers for the test through the STAG system. The literature for self-study is entered above in the overview of study literature. d) Complete excursions in the scope and dates set at the beginning of the semester. Students pay for excursions from their own resources. The deans of the faculty may apply for a social scholarship.
