1. Punishment and its functions 2. Three principles of modern prison system 3. Prison system in the U.S.A. 4. European prison system 5. Prison system in the Czech Republic 6. Prison personnel 7. Cognitive and related characteristics of prisoners 8. Drugs issues in prisons 9. Extraordinary events in prison 10. Programs for treatment of prisoners 11. Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
  • Preparation for classes - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course is aimed mainly on acquiring specific knowledge for professional performance of the social worker of The Prison Service of the Czech Republic.
Person completed the course should be able to prepare and execute programs for treatment of prisoners.

Basic knowledge of law, psychology and pedagogics

Assessment methods and criteria
Interview

Person completed the course should be able to prove in the interview the knowledge of prison theory and practise and the ability of creative knowledge application.
